2027 Goulburn Show Young Woman
The Goulburn Show Society is now seeking entrants for the 2027 Goulburn Show Young Woman Competition, providing a fantastic opportunity for young women to develop their leadership, communication and networking skills while representing their local community.
For more than 60 years, the Young Woman Competition has celebrated the passion, dedication and achievements of young women living in rural and regional New South Wales. Conducted by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) and Agricultural Shows NSW, the competition aims to engage, educate and mentor young people in agriculture while fostering a lifelong connection with the show movement.
The competition is designed to identify and develop future leaders, strengthening participants’ confidence, interviewing abilities, public speaking skills and community engagement. More than just a title, the role offers the chance to become an ambassador for Goulburn, the local Show Society and rural communities across the region.
Successful local entrants may progress through Zone judging, with finalists ultimately competing at the Sydney Royal Easter Show as part of the State Young Woman Competition program.
Young women involved in the competition demonstrate outstanding commitment to their communities and a strong understanding of the issues facing rural and regional NSW. They are confident, capable and passionate ambassadors for their local area.

Eligibility and Format
- There is no limit to the number of times a young woman may enter, provided she remains eligible.
- Show societies may run a competition annually, biennially, or nominate a candidate without holding a formal local competition if approached by an entrant.
There are no mandatory requirements on how a local competition must be conducted. However, many societies choose to align with the RAS suggested format to better prepare entrants for Zone and State Finals.
Encouraging Participation
- Advertising through local media
- Directly approaching potential entrants
- Engaging local businesses to sponsor prizes and nominate candidates
- Involving the current Young Woman to speak with schools, youth groups or community organisations
- Promoting the competition via social media and tagging local groups
- Hosting information stalls at shopping centres, field days or community events
Entrants must complete:
- Form A – Conditions of Entry
- Form B – Young Woman Details
Completed forms should be submitted to the Young Woman Coordinator or Show Secretary.

- Presenting awards
- Media engagement
- Supporting future Young Woman competitions
Ongoing support helps build confidence and prepares entrants for progression to Zone and State levels.
Post-Show, a copy of Forms A and B and a photograph of the winning Young Woman must be forwarded promptly to the Zone Final Coordinator and the AgShows NSW Young Woman Coordinator. Entry to Zone Finals is only accepted once this documentation is received.
Show societies are also encouraged to support their representative at the Zone Final by attending, hosting tables and providing encouragement.
